Classes include stretches, class etiquette, basic technique, dance concept exploration, movement games and learning choreography. Pre-Pointe - Pre-Pointe This class is an additional class dancers in Dance IV can take. In this class dancers will learn exercises to build strength, flexibility and coordination in their ankles and feet with the goal of getting pointe shoes. As dancers progress in class they will level up to wearing pointe shoes with the recommendation of their teacher and approval from their doctor. Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention - Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention (Sep 18-Oct 23) Tai Chi is a gentle, low impact form of mind-body exercise with smooth, flowing movements that contain a surprising inner power to strengthen the body and calm the mind while promoting better health and increased relaxation. The Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention program uses the Sun Style of tai chi and is designed to be safe and easy on the joints, to improve balance and to be easy to learn. This class is appropriate for all adults, but is especially well suited for those 50+ who would like increased strength, coordination and flexibility, decreased joint pain, improved balance and posture, decreased stress and an increased sense of well-being.Tai Chi requires no special equipment and is generally performed standing. Little Hoops - Little Hoops Our instructional/team program prepares your future hoops player! Volunteer coaches will teach participants fundamental skills, basic techniques and improvement of motor skills required for the game of basketball. Players will use junior sized balls and shorter hoops to build confidence. Practices will be held once a week with scrimmages being played on Saturday mornings at the Wood Dale, Itasca or Medinah Park District. Team t-shirts will be provided. This league promotes an atmosphere of enjoyment, teamwork, and good sportsmanship while learning and improving upon fundamental skills. Adult volunteers coach and instruct each team. Teams will be formed immediately following the registration deadline and volunteer coaches will be confirmed and contacted. RegistrationEvery effort will be made to place registrants on a team; however, once a team has filled, registrants will be placed on a “wait list” in an effort to create another team. In the event we have enough “wait list” participants, players will be divided up to create an even number of boys and girls on each team. Because of this, we cannot guarantee that your child will play on a requested team. Participants will be informed of team placement by their coach on or before Friday, August 9th. Kid Rock II - Kid Rock II (Oct 27-Dec 8) Sing, dance, play, learn, and imagine with us! This movement-based program uses music to facilitate learning. Activities include use of rhythm instruments and movement props, work on gross and fine motor skills, including balance and coordination, and engagement of imaginative play. DANCE I - DANCE I Dance I is a 45-minute weekly class designed for preschool and kindergarten aged dancers. In this class we will focus on ballet technique. Classes include stretches, class etiquette, basic technique, dance concept exploration, movement games and learning choreography. Please wear leotard, tights, or comfortable form fitted clothing, ballet shoes.Connecting communities to creative arts--that is what we do at Innovation Arts Connection! Our progressive curriculum focuses on dance concepts and core techniques as well as teaching the importance of respect, positive attitude and hard work. In our classes students will develop grace, rhythm, coordination, creativity, and confidence in a fun, safe and structured environment. Pre-Pointe - Pre-Pointe This class is an additional class dancers in Dance IV can take. In this class dancers will learn exercises to build strength, flexibility and coordination in their ankles and feet with the goal of getting pointe shoes. As dancers progress in class they will level up to wearing pointe shoes with the recommendation of their teacher and approval from their doctor. Dancers must have at least 2 years of ballet training and must be currently enrolled in Dance IV to participate.Connecting communities to creative arts--that is what we do at Innovation Arts Connection!
